Life Guard

It is best to find someone within the Village that meets the requirements and is willing but this is a challenge that needs to be addressed early enough to avoid not having one for the summer.

Requirements:

• Red Cross certified and insured
• Sign a contract with CV for days, hours and dependability
  • Cherry Village Life Guard Contract
• Sign a W-9 agreeing to pay their own taxes
  • W-9 Form
• Turn in hours to Advantage Management who will cut a check
• Require each person who swims to sign in on a log sheet
• Learn and know the pool rules and what is expected [clarify]
• Lifeguards are responsible for cleaning the Restrooms
• Pool Bathroom Cleaning Checklist for Lifeguards
• Lifeguard should sign a hold harmless agreement.

Don't forget:

• Issue the life guard a key to the pool (and collect it at the end of the season)
• Inform the life guard who to call with questions on weather problems and guests
• Verify opening and closing dates of the pool with Pool Contractor
• We cannot charge for admittance as per our insurance carrier

Hiring Procedures

1. Advertise for the CV Lifeguard position in the beginning of April. Advertise in Cherry Village, Orem Recreation Center, American Red Cross, and local Swim Teams. See below for a sample advertisement.
2. Collect resumes and references before April 15th.
3. Call references and interview at least 3 applicants.
4. Choose a lifeguard by May 1st

Cherry Village HOA is looking for a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard to fill a summer lifeguarding position available June – August 2009. We are looking for someone who can be committed to lifeguard Monday – Friday 12pm-2pm. Please submit a resume with 2-3 referrals to Board Member by April 15th.

Qualities we are looking for in a Cherry Village lifeguard include:

• Strong personality so the Lifeguard can enforce the rules with all children, even adults
• Dependable to show up everyday on time
• Finds a substitute when cannot show up on certain days
• If a Cherry Village Resident, we are looking for someone who is a good example of following the rules when not acting as the lifeguard.
